2016 is our 41th year of Youth Track!
Track races will be held each Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm for eight weeks beginning June 22nd through Wednesday, August 10th at the Marshfield High School Community track behind the Martinson Elementary School.
On odd weeks, kids can run a 50M, 200M and half mile; adults and high schoolers run a mile. On even weeks, kids can run 100M, 400M and mile; adults and high schoolers run a mile. The 3 and 4 year olds only run the 50 & 100 each week.
Back again this year is a toddler 1 and 2 year old 20 meter race that will start promptly at 6:00!
Each Youth Track evening will then begin with the 3 year old girls running the 50M race, followed by the 3-year-old boys in the 50; then the 4 year-old girls, then 4 year-old boys. After that, the kids are split into groups by age into two-year increments and gender (Depending on numbers, the older age groups may be split as well). We continue in this way up through high school age.
The All Ages Mile usually starts between 7 and 7:30 PM. Mom and Dads, don't forget to wear your running shoes!
Entry is free, but a jar is put out if you would like to make a donation to help us defray the costs of ribbons. There will be new T-shirts available for sale for only $10.00. Every child gets at least one ribbon. Records are kept and the names of the first three in each event are published in the Marshfield Mariner newspaper and on this Facebook page.
We are in need of volunteers. Great volunteer opportunity for High School students! If interested, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Rain cancels the event due to track safety. Cancellation announcements will be made by 4:00 PM on the Youth Track Facebook page.
