Restaurant reviews for Aoyama

Review submitted on November 24th, 2009 by Leslie Smith from Black Mount Enjoyable evening with the family Last night our family of 5, plus 1 guest enjoyed an evening out at Aoyama. We were celebrating our 13 year old's birthday. When we have something special to celebrate, my children think of Aoyama. I'm pleased to go there because all 3 of my children will eat their vegetables (ages 23, 13, 12) when they are grilled Hibachi style. Of course this includes the Land & Sea option(meat & seafood) as the main course - about $22 per person. My husband did comment that it seems crazy to charge $3.00 per person for Hibachi style rice, as opposed to just ordering boiled/white rice. We enjoy the entertainment from the chef & audience participation. We tend to go to Aoyama quarterly for the Hibachi style because the food is fresh, served with a salad & soup, and we have come to rely on Jason's participation (we've had him most of the time as our chef). I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone! Review submitted on November 14th, 2009 by Steakman from Marshfield Uneven at best Hibatchi review:

Review submitted on October 21st, 2007 by Jessica Parish from Brighton, MA Aoyama Great FOOD!! This restaurant in Marshfield has been one of the hidden jewels in Massachusetts. Although the atmosphere occasionally can get a bit noisy, the food and the quality of service makes up for it. The Habachi chefs are wonderfully innovative. creative and highly personable. After arriving there, my family and I ordered from both the sushi carte as well as from the habachi table, and we found botb to be excellent. The sushi here is comparable to the sushi found in the higher end sushi restaurants in Boston, without the expensive price tag. DEFINATELY RECOMMAND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANY WHO LOVES JAPANESE CUISINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review submitted on October 11th, 2007 by LAMJAM from Marshfield Too Fast!! We continue to go back to Aoyama because the food is so delicious and the owner so friendly and accomodating. But it seems that they move you out like a herd of cattle. If you are at the hibatchi, they RUSH you to order. There is no time for conversation and you are ordering for a person that might be 5 minutes late because the waitress suggests that you do that. They need to let you have the full dining experience without making it so obvious that they want you out in exactly one hour. TOOOOO FAST!!!
Review submitted on September 12th, 2007 by Brantrocker from Brant Rock Great Service We actually had great srvice at Aoyama.
Review submitted on August 3rd, 2007 by Isabel from Marshfield Great addition to Marshfield! I was thrilled to find this restaurant. They serve mainly Japanese food -- hibachi, sushi, teriyaki, and tempuras. They also have a few Chinese staples like noodles and fried rice just to diversify. I was not expecting such delicious Asian food in Marshfield! We were completely delighted. The staff was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is bright and open. We were able to take our young daughter there without any problems. They also had a small bar on the other side of the room where a couple was dining. Yum!! We will be there weekly. Review submitted on July 27th, 2007 by Maura from Pembroke :-) Every time I go to Aoyama I have a very tasteful, unique experience. The food is always absolutely delicious and is presented in a unique fashion. The chefs are very talented and entertaining. I never knew I could love Japanese food so much. A+ Review submitted on July 14th, 2007 anonymously from Marshfield Consistent and Good Have had the hibachi cooking 5 times, great everytime, always what you expect.Maybe they shouldn"t rush you so much! Review submitted on July 7th, 2007 by greenhbrbeachlova from Marshfield Can't wait to go back We have eaten here twice and have not been disappointed. They have turned this into a beautiful and contemporary restaurant. I think they did a wonderful job with what they had to work with. The service is outstanding. The sushi was fresh and delicious. Our meals were delicious. 3 of us ordered chicken, and 1 sword fish. The spices and sauces were good and didn't overpower the food. We had enough leftovers to take home and eat for lunch the following day.
Review submitted on June 25th, 2007 anonymously from Marshfield Can't wait to go back! I went mid-week for dinner. The staff was pleasant and attentive. The food was delicious...especially the shrimp and veg tempura. The ambiance was dull and they need more seats in the waiting area. I was happy with my overall experience and will definitely be going back soon. Review submitted on May 29th, 2007 by Mike from Marshfield Services!!!! friends and I was there couple weeks ago. The place was lack of amostphere and not enjoyable. Taste of the food was not that great! and it's expensive. This place need more services..... Review submitted on May 24th, 2007 by lewis from Marshfield Food Me and my wife having dinner last week. The food is not that great and the price tag is too high. Also, this restaurant is having no services at all. They only care about get done quickly. Review submitted on March 24th, 2007 anonymously from marshfield awesome!!! thank god marshfield finally has somewhere worth eating!!!out of 20 places that serve food this is the only one thats up to par! the prices arent too bad, its a great show and the food is great!!! just make sure to call ahead if you want a good table..also weekends tend to have too many kids, but they seem enterteined too!!! Review submitted on March 12th, 2007 by Linda from Marshfield Best Restaurant in Town My husband and I have brought family and friends to Aoyama three times and everyone has raved about it. It is a fantastic addition to the town of Marshfield. The food is fresh, the staff is kind and friendly.
Review submitted on January 31st, 2007 by IrishEyes from Marshfield Great food, but don't go on a weekend without a reservation! Overall, we really enjoyed Aoyama. The food was great, the service quick and polite. Sitting at the grill tables makes for a great meal and fun experience. The chefs are very entertaining and talented. The only problem we encountered was the wait for a table. I made a reservation over a week in advance for a birthday dinner for 10 people on a Saturday night, and we still had to wait 45 MINUTES in a crowded lobby with minimal seating, even though we were on time. We were on the verge of walking out the door when we were finally seated. We were told by management (who, in their defense, were very apologetic) that the delay was due to another large party that had showed up late. A couple suggestions... make the late party wait, instead of inconveniencing several other parties. Add more seating to the waiting area. Or, provide a free drink or two to those forced to wait. Besides that problem, great place! Review submitted on January 16th, 2007 by The Mahoneys from Marshfield Can't wait to go back with all our friends! Went in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and we were very pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly and seemed genuinely happy to see us. All the food we ordered (fried rice, lobster & steak, etc.) was fresh and perfectly prepared with awesome entertainment by the chef. Can't wait to eat there again. Review submitted on January 14th, 2007 by The Groucy Old Bastard Overall It's not too shabby Well first off, it's basically a different version of the Bennihana restaurant chain. So, if you've been there, more or less you've been here too. They throw a few more tricks in like making volcanos out of onions to keep the kids interested. We shared the hibachi table with a nice woman who's obnoxious kid needed to have his butt kicked up around his collar. The food was exactly as I remembered Bennihana's to be. We started with a sushi appetiser and some Japanese beer and they were both good. The restaurant is very clean. However since the clatter of chef knives, chop sticks and dinner conversation reverberates off only hard surfaces, the noise level is an a par with an average bowling alley on league night. This could easily be fixed with some drapes, upholstery and rugs or mats, even Japanese screens would muffle the noise. We had to shout at the person next to us to be heard. So, good food, average value, high marks for cleanliness, but the acoustics need some work to make it a pleasant place to eat. Not too shabby, could be easily improved. Review submitted on January 3rd, 2007 anonymously from Marshfield Excellent! The grill tables were full when we went so we had the sushi, seaweed salad and chicken lowmein at a regular table. All were extremely fresh! We are looking forward to going back soon to sit at the grill table! I would just highly recommend they dim the lights down to create a cozier atmosphere. Otherwise everything was great and we are really excited to have this new restaurant in Marshfield!! Review submitted on December 30th, 2006 by TitineB from Marshfield Good food but lacks atmosphere I went there with my daughter one evening during the week. Service was prompt and efficient. The food came quickly and was good. However the surroundings could be improved, considering the pricetag of the meal. Review submitted on December 27th, 2006 by Ann from Marshfield Wonderful I'm delighted to finally have a restaurant in Marshfield that serves great sushi. On two separate visits, the sushi was extremely fresh, and Japanese appetizers (seaweed salad, steamed shumai) very tasty. The sushi doesn't come cheap, but the prices and portions are on par with what you typically pay at sushi restaurants, and it's worth it to get high quality, fresh sushi (and without the trek into Boston). Am very much looking forward to trying the Chinese food. The servers and sushi chefs could not be more pleasant, and the chefs cooking/performing in the central grill areas appear to do a particularly great job entertaining families. Well done, Aoyama! Review submitted on December 22nd, 2006 by Katie from Marshfield Love It! I've been three times now. Once after it first opened, we sat at the grill and tried the hibachi steak and calamari, good, but a little bland. the side sauces were great to add a little extra flavor. We also shared the spicy tuna roll and shrimp and vegetable tempura. The tempura was better than the other three sushi places on the south shore too.
Review submitted on December 4th, 2006 by Lindsey from Marshfield great place! One of my first times trying sushi. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The menu has many choices to offer. The sushi was delicious and beautifully presented. Very clean, nice ambiance. We will be back! Review submitted on December 1st, 2006 anonymously Great food but..... If you are looking for a cozy, romantic dinner, it wasn't a good match. The dining room was bright and loud. We had the Sushi deluxe and a Chinese dish, both were delicious. I will give them a break on spotty service since they are new, if our meals are delivered 10 minutes apart or the waiter can’t distinguish between regular and low sodium soy sauce next time, it will be strike two....
Review submitted on November 29th, 2006 anonymously Must try It was fun, the food was great and the staff was quick, glad to welcome them here! Review submitted on November 26th, 2006 by Beverly from Marshfield A Must Try This restaurant is fabulous! A great newcomer to the town of Marshfield. Open only 2 wks the waiting area was packed with folks waiting for tables. A must try. Choice of sushi bar, hibachi table or regular menu. Menu is both Japanese and Chinese food selections. Review submitted on November 20th, 2006 by Clarke from Marshfield Great for Marshfield Have been there three times already and loved it. The restaurant is addition to the Marshfield restaurant scene. It sure is different from what was there before, clean, open, bright and very friendly. I hope the people of Marshfield give it a try and are open to other foods than burgers, and chicken fingers. the sushi was of the highest quality and will be going to the habachi table next time in. |
