Restaurant reviews for Courtney's Food & Spirits

Review submitted on September 10th, 2010 by Courtneys lover from Marshfield I am also so saddened to learn that they are closing. The pizza was excellent but what made the place was the staff. Leo, Bridget, Lisa and Michelle you are a wonderful staff and I know you all will do well. It's sad to see such a great team go there separate ways. Review submitted on September 7th, 2010 by Mack from Quincy/Marshfield Farewell to Courtney's On Sunday I dined at Courtney's restaurant, and was saddened to learn that the restaurant is slated to close in two weeks. Courtney's served decent, simple food including very good pizza. On Sunday, I had reasonably priced twin lobster rolls that were as good as you could get anywhere in Marshfield. The tragedy here, of course, is the people who will be affected by the closing. The bar staff, the cooks, the waitresses were all lovely people and I hope they find work elsewhere, and quickly. Review submitted on April 28th, 2010 anonymously The restaurant could use a serious makeover. Great pizza, but the real jems in the establishment are the bartenders. Best bar staff around which is why my wife and I keep coming back! Review submitted on November 15th, 2009 by Matty G from Marshvegas Fun Place for Drinks and Pizza My wife and I love to drop into the bar for entertainment and pizza! Always a fun crowd with a dj or band and the bartender Leo is fantastic. What a head of hair on that kid, anyway, if you are new in town stop in, order a pizza and a few rounds of drinks, play some Keno and have fun! Review submitted on July 16th, 2007 anonymously Best Pizza Around! Pizza is excellent. Finally a change! The pizzas around here are all bar size with the same toppings. We ordered a large and it was HUGE. We also had artichokes and eggplant on it which was fantastic to have something besides pepperoni. Review submitted on May 6th, 2007 anonymously from Marshfield My party of four went to Courtney's for the first time in a few years. We hadn't been there in that time because of two bad experiences we had a while back (MISERABLE service). We were one of only three parties in the restaurant all the time we were there. That should have been a red-flag on a Saturday evening. The place smelled dirty (not old-food odors, just a rank, dirty smell). The food took an hour and twenty minutes to arrive at the table (pizza, sandwich, chicken). Then the quality was definitely not what it should have been; we sure didn't take a doggie bag with us. Sorry, but we won't be back. Courtney's needs to close, renovate, and overhaul the menu/service. The location is prime but the restaurant has needed help since the Biaggio's sold. Review submitted on March 27th, 2007 by Morrie from Scituate Best Pizza We've been going to Courtneys since it first opened. They have the best pizza, hands down, of any restaurant in the area. It's fabulous and in expensive as well. Review submitted on March 24th, 2007 anonymously the pizzas not bad but as far aas the rest of the menu, not all that great...... staff and owners seem great though Review submitted on March 21st, 2007 anonymously from Marshfield Pizza is great and the best part is the bartender Leo has the most positive attitude and is so outgoing Review submitted on July 27th, 2006 anonymously from Scituate Love this place After reading a few of these reviews I have to write in. We've been going to Courtneys for over a year now and we love this place. I hope that everyone who has giving a bad review would give them another try every business goes through good & bad times and I'll attest that Courtneys has more good than bad. It seems that everyone who has posted lately has ONLY been there once which is not a fair judgement on anyplace. I also know that they have been in transition with theie waitstaff and kitchen staff so give them another shot. The owner is back on the line cooking and his wife and mother are usually a constant presence in the place. Try the Salmon is is out of this world and the Veal saltimboca is the best. The also run some great weekday and weekend specials. Review submitted on July 8th, 2006 by Mama Celeste from Marshfield The worst we've ever had, WILL NOT be going there again We heard so much about them we decided to give them a try for ourselves. Ordered something that resembled chicken and pizza. We didn't even finish, wasn't worth the money we spent. Ended up leaving most of it behind, not even worthy of a doggie bag (We love our dog too much to give him any of it). The pizza would have tasted better if it were Mama Celeste's frozen and the chicken was a close second to Prom Chicken. Service was slow, and we were one of the only few in there, obviously for a reason.
Review submitted on June 28th, 2006 anonymously from marshfield How are they still in buisness????????????????????? I can't believe they are still open!! The food is the worst I have ever had, so is the service. If your not a regular, forget about getting a drink at the bar. How are they still in Buisness???????????????? Review submitted on May 14th, 2006 by Pauly Walnuts from The fields of marsh. Enjoyed our dinner!! Recently went to courtneys and we really enjoyed our visit! The food was delicious and the wait staff prompt and professional. It was very quiet with only a few other dinners. ( the bar had most of the action )My two children were kept busy and entertained by their hidden object fact sheet. Everyone enjoyed their dinner with both the kids raving about what they ordered. The older had a 1/2 rack of ribs (one of which I had and was darn tasty) the younger had their childrens menu(comes with drink and ice cream) chicken fingers, which he said "tell the chef they are cooked to perfection" My wife had the scallops which she enjoyed and I had a breast of chicken with stuffed portobello mushroom ravioli that was excellent!! The bread was warm, the service attentive. The prices were very affordable for a family of 4 including drinks and 1 dessert. If you are looking for something different and sick of the 99/ BBC/Poopsies usual options with kids, this could do it. Takeout also available and I hear the pizza is great, Courtneys we will be back!! Review submitted on March 19th, 2006 by jgk from Marshfield Great Food! Great Service! Been to Courtneys 4 times in the last 5 months and always received hot, high quality, delicious food, wonderful & friendly service and nice (usually quiet) atmosphere. Nothing to complain about from this family! Kids love the grilled chicken breast and chicken fingers, stating, "They're the best of all the restaurants around" Review submitted on March 3rd, 2006 by fergie from Hanson TO TRY OR NOT TO TRY-THAT IS THE QUESTION
Review submitted on February 22nd, 2006 anonymously from Marshfield Their Pizza is Awsome The pizza from courtney's is really really really good! The other food has been consistent, but the pizza rocks! Review submitted on December 23rd, 2005 anonymously from Marshfield Hidden Jewel I love this place. You can tell the family who owns it puts a lot of time and energy into making you feel comfortable. Great staff and even better food. They have some of the best Italian food around. It's been our little secret that needs to get out. So go on in and enjoy. Review submitted on December 8th, 2005 anonymously Had a great dinning experiance the staff were great the food was cooked to perfection, and the prices were resonable. We will be back. We will try the Sunday brunch this week. Review submitted on September 18th, 2005 by Paula Great Shrimp Scampi Best scampi (besides my own!) I've ever had....lotsa garlic and shrimp. However, loose the older (sorry) blonde waitress..one night, she was complaining to the hostess that the hostess wasn't seating tables correctly - i.e - "it's my turn"...obvious she is there for money, not to serve her customers. Review submitted on April 28th, 2005 by Blackmount from Marshfield new interior If you have not been to Courtney's recently you need to see the new decorating. The interior is now as delightful as the food. The nightly appetizers are my favorite. This is truly a family run business owned by and run by Marshfield residents. The Sunday buffet is one of the best values on the South Shore. Review submitted on April 16th, 2005 anonymously from marshfield Take out is great We get take out pizza from Courtneys a lot. A large pizza can feed 4 adults, they're huge. We also get the family size chicken parm. It includes 6 pieces of chicken w/ pasta (only $25). Great deal, good food. Review submitted on April 4th, 2005 anonymously Have you seen the dinning room since they put in the booths. It is awesome, very cosy. The food is great and the staff if very friendly. I had the chicken boba boca Its to die for. My friend had the broiled scollops she said they were the best she ever had. If you haven't tried Courtneys yet your missing out..... Review submitted on October 18th, 2004 anonymously from marshfield I love the food My husband and I have eaten at Courtney's on a regular basis and we have never had a bad dish prepared for us. I especially love their salmon dish over rice with fresh veges all around the fish. Yummy!!!. The staff is great and they definately want to know if there are any problems with anything. Give the place a chance and don't be AFRAID TO TELL THEM ABOUT THE SERVICE. If the service is slow, tell them. Review submitted on October 10th, 2004 anonymously what can i say? foods better then burger king, but they need to learn to take care of their staff, a local place like this need s great bartenders and staff that the locals like, maybe someone should tell the courtneys this! Review submitted on September 20th, 2004 by Nick from Marshfield Sunday brunch is the best in town. It includes prime rib, all for only $11.95 My wife and I couln't believe all the food they offer for Sunday brunch. It is a very relaxed atmoshire. Not only is the food great the staff is wonderfull. I give it a ten. You should try it...... Review submitted on September 17th, 2004 by Bc from Marshfield Maybe a makeover, but nothing's changed.... Let's face it, Courtney's is really a bar. Their attempts at northern Italian cuisine are unrefined, nothing like the real deal, for example, Ciro & Sal's (in Provincetown). Courtney's is one step up from diner. It's where your in-laws go to hang after Bingo. The crowd is pase and parochial. If you're not a regular, you will feel like an outsider there. My personal rating? 2 stars out of 5. -Bc Review submitted on July 17th, 2004 anonymously from Marshfield, MA Good food, slow service We have gone here a few times for dinner. The service is very friendly and the food is excellent... but it's always REALLY slow. Try getting take out! Review submitted on May 11th, 2004 anonymously from Marshfield Food and Service I've read the reviews and decided to give the place a try. I was not only surprised at how good the food was, I fell in love with the family run service. I stareted with the mixed vegetable salad. The Balsamic dressing and the grilled vegies made a great combo. After that I had the Bayou Pork Tenderloin which was the best I've ever had. My wife ordered the Turkey Tips and raved, whil my son ate a pizza. The service was great. The chef visited our table and his mother servered our meal. We left full, happy and looking forward to a return visit. Review submitted on April 27th, 2004 by Pat from South Carolina- Lunch I had lunch here last Friday while I was up visiting family. It was recommended that I have the beef stew in a cutout large round loaf of dark bread. It was excellent! By the time I had finished the actual stew, the juice with its flavor had been sopped into the bread. Man, was that ever good! The waitress was so nice also. It was an all and all good experience. I highly recommend lunch here. Review submitted on April 6th, 2004 anonymously from marshfield They still can't get it right I thought I would give them another try. After all, it is not summer and there is not a crowd. After 20 minutes, I finally got a person to give us some rolls. We kept having to ask for coffee and water. Based on the fact that there were only two other tables in the dining room being served besides us, I thought they might have been able to handle it.
Review submitted on March 27th, 2004 by anonymous from South Shore Where everybody knows your name!!!!! I have found a new home, and I call it Courtney's Food and Spirits. Every time I walk in the door, I am greeted with a smile. The menu offers enough variety to always try something new, but the Chicken Bona Boca will always be my favorite. The combination of the talent from the kitchen, personalities of the waiters, and the friendliness of the owners make Courtney's the hidden gem of Marshfield Review submitted on January 8th, 2004 by Mae from Pembroke We've been here several times but usually just for the mussle appetizer. The bar is kind of weird, everyone stares at you when you walk in. The pizza used to be good and affordable. The pizza is still affordable but last time we got it, it was severely underooked. Now that the Backside Bistro is back open, we will be frequenting there. Review submitted on January 3rd, 2004 by r.parmenter from Marshfield OUTSTANDING!!! My wife and I went for dinner and we were very impressed by the menu, the waiter, the owner, and most of all the meal. The portions were abundant and cooked perfectly. We had been to the same establishment when it was Biagio's, and Jennifers, and yes, even before that. I was expecting the same faire and decor under the new name. What a surprise! It is great to finally have a restaurant in Marshfield that I would want to return to. KUDOS to the new owners, You know what you're doing and you do well! Review submitted on January 2nd, 2004 anonymously from Marshfield Best kept secret I go to Courtney's at least once a week to eat and get their pizza to go at least once a week. They have by far the best pizza on the south shore. The menu is great, my wife and I have tried most everything they offer. The veal saltimboca is amazing and the crusted steak tips are out of this world. The servers and bartenders are wonderful and the family is always friendly. The brunch can not be beat.
Review submitted on January 2nd, 2004 anonymously from marshfield horrible This place no matter how many times my family has given it a shot it has been horrible. Review submitted on December 30th, 2003 anonymously Returning??? I had dinner there with my daughter when the new owners took over. My daughter said that the kids macaroni & cheese was the worst she has ever eaten and she would eat it every day if she could. I was presented this beautiful dessert that had absolutely no flavor. I swear they forgot to put any sugar at all in it. I may give it another try, I wait on the reviews. Review submitted on December 7th, 2003 anonymously We've only been there once since it's been sold. We sat in the smoking section (big mistake) and it was very smokey, and the people at the bar were loud and obnoxious. The pizza was o.k., but we miss Bill and Marie Biagio. The prices are a bit high. We won't trip over ourselves to go back there. Review submitted on December 4th, 2003 anonymously from Marshfield Great Sunday Brunch I haven't had dinner there since owner change, but do go to the Sunday bruch which remains delicious with a varied array of foods. I would recommend it tomy VERY picky grandmother! |
